Congratulations to Bad Luck City, featuring Matt Woods and Michael Swanger, winner of the 2006 Iowa Blues Solo/Duo Challenge held September 3rd at Vaudeville Mews in conjunction with the Court Avenue Blues Fest. Matt and Michael will receive $250 cash plus $300 travel expenses to Memphis as our state representative at the International Blues Challenge. They were one of three acts to advance from a preliminary round held earlier. A total of six Iowa acts participated in the Challenge.
The Juke Joint Sinners placed first in the 2006 Iowa Blues Challenge finals. They will not only get the opportunity to compete against the best unsigned blues bands in the world, but will receive a generous prize package to send them on their way. A place at the prestigious Nitefall on the River and the IH Mississippi Valley Blues Festival await the statewide winners. They'll also get $1,700.00 in cash and travel expenses and 8 hours of studio time. Big Mike & Holdin' On Tight placed second and The Soul Searchers placed third. FINALS PRIZE LIST
